Award Winning Fuel Installation ( Non-retail)

Lossiemouth

Case Study

Winning the best new fuel installation (non-retail) award at the 2022 APEA awards has galvanised our position as one of Scotland’s leading fuel equipment installation companies.

This award is the culmination of eighteen months hard work from first receiving the tender documentation to commissioning.

The project consisted of the construction of a New MTFI (Mechanical Transport Filling Installation) at RAF Lossiemouth and the subsequent decommissioning of the two number existing sites.

The works comprised of all civil, mechanical and electrical engineering being carried out by Carmichael + Baxter and our sister company, Industrial Services, in house engineers with the exception of the new firefighting system which was subcontracted to Ritmac of Glasgow under our management.

The project was aided with the help of our key suppliers TB Tanks, PFS Fueltec, Hytek/Pumptronics and Gilbarco Veeder Root to whom we would like to express our deepest thanks for their ongoing support delivering these projects.

Carmichael + Baxter Industrial Services has gone from strength to strength since the current directors purchased the long-standing business having been formed in 1969 in 2014. The directors Peter Carmichael, Alan Baxter and Neil Cameron have driven the business towards being a one stop shop for all fuel related businesses. In addition, the company has become an all-trades contractor supplying high quality trades people to commercial, retail, Ministry of Defence and private sectors.

With an eye to the future the company is currently installing EV chargers, bottom loading skids, bulk fuel distribution sites, new forecourts, Adblue manufacturing plants and one of Scotland’s first above ground petrol storage facilities in a retail setting.

All of the above works have been carried out by our teams of professional and fully qualified engineers including certified pipework fabrication, Compex 11 mechanical works and Compex 1-4 and 7-8 electrical works. Whilst new installations remain a key part of our business, we have also continued to grow our long-standing preventative and reactive maintenance portfolio covering the whole of Scotland including the Scottish Islands.

Our work with the Ministry of Defence has pushed our traditional borders further afield with works now being carried out in the Midlands and Northern Ireland. The directors recognise all of our success so far and into the future is firmly delivered by our fantastic team of staff. We would also like to thank everyone at APEA for this recognition and look forward to working together in the future.
